Back to School with a BANG

It’s that time again!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE back to school time! When I see the school supplies stocked on the aisles of Walmart I get giddy! Everything about back to school is so exciting!

I thought I’d share with you a few of my FAV FINDS to get you & your clan going back to school with a bang!

The FIRST thing you need to do…is get your kids & take some pictchas of the big day! Print these & have some fun!

Cute Chalkboard Printables from That’s What Che Said.

Love these different designs from A Blissful Nest featured on Living Locurto’s blog.

Trendy Hashtag printables from Tator Tots & Jello HERE.

I am alll about some organization! My life is soo chaotic I NEED something to tame the chaos!

I am LOVING these cute weekly calender free printable from Living Locurto HERE

My kids & my husband are one & the same. I have to spell everything out for them. Tell them step by step what to do. For example…if I ask any of them to get the towels out of the dryer & put them up. I ACTUALLY have to verbally include the step, FOLD THEM.

So…when I came across these adorable little checklists…I thought to myself…why not make my life a little easier?

Back to School Dry Erase Chore Charts from The 36th Avenue.

Ok..I have to admit…I’ve been a lame mom when it comes to the lunchbox. Daynie actually asked me one time to write her a note for her school lunch like her friend’s mom does. I felt HORRIBLE. and then. I STILL forgot to include one!  TOTALLLL MOM FAIL.

It’s reallly easy to google & come up with a ton of cute lunchbox notes…I found these  fun lunch box notes by Kiki & Company that were more “us”. I printed them..cut them out..put them in a ziploc baggy by the lunch I could see them & remember to grab one & include in their lunch.

Aren’t these lunch blox from Rubbermaid the coolest? Our Thrifty Ideas has a whole post on how she used them for her little ones plus a link to a $2.00 off coupon to get ya some! Daynie & Garridon will totally dig these…I’m def putting them on my shopping list! I LOVE how the ice pack is on the bottom.

Teacher GIFTS!! This is one of the MOST important parts of back to school!

If your kids are little heathens like mine…they need all the help they can get!

Again..Pinterest & The Google is full of great ideas…here are just a few I like…

Mason Jar w/ FREE chalkboard tags from The Crafted Sparrow.

These are my kid’s Back to School teacher gifts from last year….Keep Calm & Teach On easy printables…click HERE.

These “School Notes” I actually found & printed last year. Just print a stack & keep out for your kid to grab. I like to punch holes & stick in a binder. It’s fun to flip back and see how their answers have changed over the year.

These are GREAT for opening up the lines of communication with your kids and also just seeing what goes on in their little heads…feeling & stuff.

Before & After…a little decorating at the MNL’s

Found these before & afters of some decorating I did at my Mother N Law’s last year.

I found the pillows to tie in all her colors & went from there.313 635

I made the big cross in the middle. The rest are various we already had. Got the rug and pillows at Walmart. Got the end tables and coffee table off Craig’s List. It also came with a taller sofa table that matches… We put it on the opposite wall and put the tv on it! It’s perfect! (sorry no pic of that)

I don’t have a before of above the cabinets…but just imagine the whole thing empty.

The picture frames were some collage frames we took the pics out of and I stuck placemats in them. They match her curtains perfect!

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week! Now get over yourself Pinterest Project Mom

This is not just a day for saying….thanks for putting up with my devil child for 8 hours everyday.

This is a day for saying…thanks for doing the job that none of us want to do, but somebody has gotta do it, so thanks for being the one to do it and being awesome while you do it.

And since that doesn’t sound all cakes & pies on a hallmark card….America turns to Pinterest.

Don’t get me wrong..I LOVVVVVE Pinterest.  It’s pretty much muh BFF these days.

BUT…after about the 7th food or drink product with a cleverly coordinated cute saying…the teacher is pretty much over it & rolling her eyes.

Because nothing says I appreciate you a bottle of orange pop.

Because nothing says I appreciate you teacher…like a bottle of orange pop.

So after searching Pinterest anyways for a bazillion nano seconds…I FINALLY found it!

These free printables from Chicabug are seriously epic.

Cute. Funny. Free.

These are perfect!

PLUS they are what the teacher’s really want & NEED….the goods.

ANY freakin gift card on the planet is better (& more appreciated) than that glittery glob of trash you stayed up all night making and posting show off pics  of on your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, & Keek accounts.

GET OVER yourself & show your kid’s teachers how much you truly APPRECIATE THEM…not how how awesome of a Pinterest Project mom you are.

DIYoself Jewelry Board

I’ve been wanting to tackle this project for awhile!

I have a large jewelry box but it just doesn’t do the job!

It only holds about 8 necklaces & when you put them in the drawers they are a tangled mess. It was seriously getting out of control.

I had some extra bulletin boards at the howse so I decided to make a jewelry board… Obviously As Seen on Pinterest. Don’t have the exact there is only five bajillion to choose from!

I started out going to spray paint my boards..

It was really windy and I tried to use a texture spray paint. Ugh! That was an effin mess of piss me off! I ended up just trying to wipe it off and taking them inside and painting them with some acrylic paint I already had. Mind you this was my SECOND attempt at spray painting the boards! Saturday I came home with a can from Wally World & the nozel wouldn’t it wouldn’t spray…ugh! After I threw a little baby fit..I succumbed to the reality that I couldn’t finish my long awaited project that evening 🙁   Sunday after church I went back to Wally World & exchanged the can of spray paint. They didn’t have any left of the kind of got the day before…so I had to settle for a less sparkly not as perfect kind :/

aaaaand we see how that turned out! UGH! The can ran out after only doing 1/3 of the board AND the texture did not spray out evenly & it looked like a clumped up mess. No pic of the craziness..I was way too ticked!

The day before I went to Hobby Lobby looking for cute scrapbook paper to use for the board… But the more I looked at it and thought about it.. I decided on painting it a solid color. I knew once I got all my necklaces on there it would just look a crazy mess if I used a design.

I found these big headed tacks at Mardel and decided to paint them.

It took just two coats to cover the plastic.

(the tacks after the 1st coat)

Ready to go!

I made two boards and hung them both in my bathroom on two walls that have been empty since we moved in.

The best thing about using tacks is you can easily move them around the board where you need them.

I had some sparkly brown tulle & just hot glued it on the edge. I already had the cross hanging in the bathroom….I just got a tack & hung the cross on the edge of the board.

Jamberry Nails

A couple weeks ago I got this cute little package in the mail:

It is a sample pack from Anneliese.  144

The heart & zebra nail shields are called Jamberry Juniors (made exclusively for kids) & were for Daynie!

I tried them out the night before Valentines Day so she could look totally fabulous for her party at school the next day!

They came with great directions!

She was so excited to get started! 147

Application was pretty simple..148

I cut the stickers at the halfway & turned them around and used other side for the other hand!

and by doing that I had so many left after I was done!152

The directions say to use a hair dryer on the nails to make the stickers seal…what a great idea to include a bean bag that could be heated in the microwave in the sample bag to use in place of the hair dryer!

Daynie’s turned out FABULOUS!

I have never been much on having painted finger nails. Maybe it’s because it’s almost impossible to find polish to last more than a few hours! I decided to try a few that were in the sample pack on myself!

Super cute!

These are the Jamberry Juniors…check out the selection online…153

And when I saw these…I got REALLY giddy! Because everyone knows my obsesh with all things Holiday!154

And WHAAAAAAT??? I HEART themes! I die! Softball & T-ball season…here we come!155

To be honest…I had originally planned on doing these for her birthday weekend…but kept putting them off. Lazy mom much?

I thought they would be a pain! But to my surprise…application turned out to be so easy!

The best part…getting to hang with Daynie & laugh and just feel connected! And she LOVED the extra attention from me! It was definitely a better bonding time then if I had just taken her to the nail place!

It’s been a week of 8 year old stuff…school, twirl, softball, baths…& they are still going strong!

To get your own Jamberry Nails…check out their website!

Email ( ) Anneliese & let her know you heard about Jamberry Nails from Mommy Edwards and get a free gift with purchase!

From drab to fab…

Like that catchy title?

Thought so.

So I’m just in a get it done mood lately..

My office has been so drab & driving me insane for awhile now.

A few months back we painted and got new floors..a much needed update..

But I just hadn’t gotten around to decorating.

See.. Very blah.

So last Sunday Danny let me spend the day by muh self and just do muh thing.

That’s all I needed to get that ball a rollin!

I picked up a few things on Sunday.. And by Tues afternoon.. I was one happy girl. Once I start something it consumes me until its complete or just how I want it.

It’s the little things that get me giddy

I’m very happy with it

Now if only the other half of my office had a glimpse of hope in the near future..

That’s actually the half I look up and see all day..

First day of school and a DIY teacher gift

In last minute style, I searched pinterest for a quick teacher gift I could throw together the night before.

I found this cute bandwagon idea..

I used The Google and found two different images that I liked, printed them as a 5×7, and picked up some clear frames at Wally World.

I gathered some inexpensive supplies and assembled them all in a little basket.

Easy Peasy.

Wish I could say the same for the 1st day of school.

They got dressed and out the door ok.

But as soon as we walked in the school…I could see Little Man’s hands clenching the straps of his backpack and the anxiety on his precious little freckled face.

We dropped Daynie off 1st & she was super excited!

Still clenching his backpack, my baby put on a brave face and headed to his class.

And that my friends is where it all ended!

When I went to leave… Garridon ditched the brave face and chased me out the door where he proceeded to lock me in bear hug and hold on for dear life.

And that’s when the water works started.

Both of us.

The teacher had to pry him off of me and hold him kicking and screaming while I left.

All. The. Way. To. Work.

Don’t get me wrong.. I’m not one of those emotional mammas crying because my baby started Kindergarten.

Can you say PAY RAISE?

No. Mo. Daycare.

Can I get an Amen?

Or a hells yeah!

Whatev floats yer boat.

So the source of my uncontrollable water works was my heart broke because he was scared.

Big school can be a big scary world through the eyes of a five year old.

I knew he would be fine after I left.

Both my angel babies had a great day!

Danny’s got afternoon car pool duty and I was excited when he texted me from the pickup line.

Back to school-personalize those supplies

It’s that time again

Ever since I was a kid.. I’ve loved school supplies. I get so excited when I see the school supply isles pop up at the beginning of August.

I always dreamed of the day I could get my kids the most awesome personalized coordinating supplies.

Thank you for being a dream killer public school system.

Talk about creative!

I just had to share this awesome idea from Southern Disposition!

What does this:

and this:

and these:

have in common with this chick?

Only the coolest idea eva!

Southern Disposition is RIGHT ON TARGET when she says that Barbie’s pad is: Big, expensive, & not cute!

So she came up with an awesome compact, affordable, & totally cute version!

Check out her tutorial here.

Such a brilliant idea! This looks sooo easy to store on a bookshelf and travel with to sleepovers or grandma’s house!

Daynie’s Barbie House:

For sure gets a check mark for being big. It’s major honky & has always taken up mucho room in

It also gets a check mark for being expensive.

But I wouldn’t necessarily give it a check mark for being not cute.  I searched long & hard for a Barbie house that matched her room. I love the bright/hot colors & zebra print. It matches her room perfect.

But I will say there are plenty upon plenty of not cute Barbie houses out there. Hence the…searching long & hard part!

That’s why doing it YOself is so awesome because you can customize the whole house decor & furniture to fit your own child’s style!

Seriously…check out her tutorial!
